Seedance 2.5, Wan 3.0 and ChatGPT Image 2.0 vs Grok Imagine
Every AI video clip starts with a source image, and for that I prefer to use ChatGPT Image 2.0 over Grok Imagine. The reason for that is that Grok Imagine is still not as lifelike for source imagery, but it will probably catch up in a month or two.
Once the image is right, it goes into a video model. I tried the latest Alibaba Wan video model, Wan 3.0, on a client training video project, but most of the time Seedance 2.5 Standard is the best way to go. Seedance 2.5 Turbo is a good option for non-detailed work or work where you don’t need super realistic. The reason you might want to use it is because it’s cheaper.
Picking the right tools only gets you so far, though. The same thing that I mentioned last time still holds: the success of an AI video production project really comes down to how much time you want to spend going over the finer details and how much perfection you require for the project. The thing that takes time is the last 5%. Doing the 95% can happen reasonably quickly, but going over the finer details is where a lot of the work is done.
This has always been the case, even with my video editing background. I used to tell people that the last 1% is where the real unconscious connections are made for the viewer. It’s the polish that the viewer may not really notice consciously.
The amount of human time that’s still required to:
- Provide the vision
- Sculpt the vision
